ABOUT ROCK CAMP

Athens Ohio Rock Camp For Girls is a one week, day camp. Girls will learn an instrument, form a band, write songs, and perform a show at the end of the week. Self-defense, stage presence, flyer making, booking shows, 4 track recording and other elective classes are also offered.

MISSION

The Athens Ohio Rock Camp for Girls builds self esteem through music creation and performance. By providing workshops and technical training, we create leadership opportunities, cultivate a supportive community of peers and mentors, and encourage social change and the development of life skills.

Through community support and monetary donations, we are committed to keeping Athens Ohio Rock Camp for Girls as low cost as possible to enable participation for individuals from all economic backgrounds.

APE: Tomorrow is Today: Dance Camp for Teens

• What: Partnering with the Athens Dance Collective and guest choreographer, Megan Payne participants learn repertoire, improve dance technique and choreograph and perform original choreography for social change!
• Who: Open to Dancers/ Movers 12-17yo.
• Cost: $215
• When:  August 6th-10th 9am-4pm @ Factory Street studio

Performance August 11th 7pm

APE: Youth Voice: Performance Camp for Teens

• What: Partnering with OU's Environmental Theatre Brigade participants practice delivery, physicality and script writing while crafting an art performance for social change.
• Who: Open to youth 12-17yo.
• Cost:  $185
• When: August 6th-10th 9am-4pm @ ARTS/West

The Youth Voice/tomorrow is today camps are for students who have a developing global perspective and are capable of focused, thoughtful  engagement and creativity.

The Big Cheese Food Truck - July 14th!

Yay! The Big Cheese Food Truck is stopping by the Market on July 14th with a bunch of yummy goodies for shoppers to enjoy.

The Big Cheese uses only the best ingredients from the best people they know: cheese from Cowgirl Creamery, bread from Lyons Bakery, sweets from Whisked and chips from Route 11. Plus, homemade soup to boot!

Hot Days of Summer

So, I've decided to get my Mom on tonight and write a little something about the hot weather this weekend.  For all of you who have shows this Saturday or Sunday, did you know they are forecasting the heat to hit 100 degrees in the DC Metro area? Yikes. 100 degrees!

So, please remember to bring the appropriate necessities on these hots days. Keep in mind, not all shows offer free water, so bring plenty of bottled liquids AND ice with you. Oh! And, have you seen these portable, battery operated fans? Inexpensive and pretty cool, they may be helpful in a heat wave, too!

Just play it safe folks and the heat will be more manageable.
